Winterbourne Christmas Bellpost
This page describing the BELLPOST service has not been updated since 2003. So this is a historical document and you'll need to find out for yourselves this years' Christmas BELLPOST arrangements.....
Bellpost is a Charity Christmas Card delivery service covering Winterbourne, Winterbourne Down, Frampton Cotterell and Coalpit Heath.
It is organised by the 1st Winterbourne (St Michael's) Scout Group with the delivery of cards being undertaken by the Guide Units and Scout Troops from the local area. The local Explorer Scout Unit is responsible for the sorting.
Bellpost stamps - price 16p - can be purchased from Mica Hardware (formerly Harris and Son) High Street, Winterbourne and at Stone Close Stores, Lower Stone Close, Frampton Cotterell or from any of the Guide Units and Scout Troops involved. Stamps will also be available from St. Michael's Rooms, High Street Winterbourne. Post boxes will be outside these shops from 25th November and the last collection will be at 5.00 p.m. 19th December.
Delivery of cards will take place on 21st and 22nd December.
The Scouts and Guides have an opportunity to help their funds as a small commission is paid for sorting and delivery. As well as offering a service to the community, the main purpose is to raise money for a worthy cause.
Bellpost was originally started in the early 1980s to raise funds for the bells at St Michael's Church in Winterbourne. Since that time it has helped over a dozen local charities. We delivered over 3,000 cards last year, and raised over £300. Again we are asking all local organisations and individuals for their support by using Bellpost for their local Christmas card delivery, and by telling their friends and neighbours about this service.
