ST.MICHAEL'S MOTHER and TODDLER GROUP.
The Mother and Toddler Group was formed in 1978. Its aim was to provide a meeting place for mums as well as a safe location for young children to play.
Many mothers find life extremely lonely when they first give up the routine and companionship of employment to have a baby, in spite of the demands of Motherhood. In our group, Mums can chat to others in similar circumstances and share any problems over a cup of tea, while their babies and young children are sleeping or playing happily together.
Many lasting friendships have been formed at our group over the years (we have a small dedicated band of "tea ladies" to whom we are most grateful).
The childrens' ages range from 0 to 3 years. We have a large collection of toys, from books to bikes, jigsaws to a slide, so there is always something for the children to do. Our membership is roughly thirty, although the average attendance is between twelve and fifteen. We are a self-help group, so we all take part in setting up and clearing away toys and equipment.
We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays during School Term-time between 2pm and 3.30pm.
New members are welcome, especially if they are keen to become actively involved in the running of the group. We are also always on the lookout for recruits to the tea rota - ladies or gentlemen - who can spare an hour each month to make tea and squash.
