Winterbourne and District Flower Arrangement Society

badge of the National Association of Flower Arranging Societies

The Flower Club was formed in 1964 and in all the years since then it has given much pleasure to a great number of people. Members have used their talents to help raise money for both Church and Charity by decorating local places of worship and country houses. We also have numerous requests each year to do wedding flowers both in the Church and at the Reception.

We also ensure that fresh flowers are placed in the Chapel of Frenchay Hospital each week and we have found that both patients and visitors appreciate this.

We meet twice a month in St Michael's Rooms but occasionally for a very large meeting we have to find a more spacious venue.

On the first Thursday in the month there is a practice night. This is a very informal and friendly evening when those who wish try their hand at arranging flowers with the help of more experienced members. We then have coffee and chat about the various arrangements and so we all learn from one another.

On the third Thursday we have a formal demonstration. We are affiliated to the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies and all our demonstrators are qualified. These evenings, which are very well attended, are open to ladies and gentlemen of all ages and are from 7:30 to 9:30pm.

We enter local flower arranging competitions as a club and individuals, and we hold a Spring and a Christmas Show in St Michael's Rooms when we can display our art to the public.

We have always had the reputation of being a very friendly club and anyone who comes along will receive a warm welcome.
